About VHEC
The Vermont Higher Education Council, Inc. (VHEC) is an organization of all the Vermont public, proprietary and independent colleges. VHEC was founded at the end of 1944 when Governor William H. Wills called college leaders together to discuss how to serve Vermonters returning from World War II.Our Mission
Our mission is to explore and implement new forms of cooperative activity which will strengthen higher education in Vermont. Major initiatives include supporting common efforts to attract students to Vermont colleges, working in partnership with the State Board of Education in the certification of out-of-state institutions seeking to offer degrees in Vermont, collecting and publishing Vermont higher education data, and promoting the significant role of higher education to state agencies and Vermont citizens.VHEC
